Formal studies are: Liberty University, D.M.E. - VanderCook School of Music, MME, in Chicago, Illinois - Troy State University, Ed.S., in Troy, Alabama - Georgia Southwestern College, B.S., in Americus, Georgia.  Hutchinson, 2010 Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction, National Band Association 2008 "Citation of Excellence" awardee, former keyboard player for Recording Artist Clarence Carter, has conducted bands and ensembles in the 1996 International Olympic Games, Georgia State Capitol, John F. Kennedy Center, Washington D.C., London, England, Sydney Opera House in Sydney Australia, Beijing and Chengdu, China, San Francisco, California and all the states throughout the Southeastern United States. Hutchinson has received letters of congratulations from many such as former President William Clinton, Senator Max Cleland, Congressman Jack Kingston, former Savannah Mayor Floyd Adams, Jr., and former Governor Zell Miller. Hutchinson has also received several official congratulations from Georgia's House and Senate. A Board Member for Savannah on Stage / Savannah Music Festival and Coastal Jazz Association over the years. Member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, Georgia Music Educators Association, Kappa Alpha Psi, Georgia Association of Educators.
